Words I should of followed!

Hey All,

I recently picked up a monster fish that was so bad ass. I brought him home, acclimated him into my sump, just till he get's adjusted so I can put him in my main tank. The first 48hrs were fine. He was very curious swimming around and even ate pieces of shrimp.

His breathing was normal and his overall stature was great. The only thing that was bugging me was the little fungus growth on his lip but I suspect this was from transportation from where he was collected and all the ammonia in the bag.

Than stupid me started to read about PIMAFIX. On how well it can treat fungus and such. I use METAFIX when I do water changes and have never had any problems. So I decided to add both! That's were the problem started. Soon as I added both, about a couple of hours my new monster fish looked like he was having difficulty breathing, then he started laying on his side. The water in my sump started to discharge a foamy film. Like adding to much soap in a dishwasher and over flowing. That's exactly what it looked like. So I immiediatly made several attempts to rescue my monster fish but to no avail I was too late

If I just left it alone and perhaps treated the fungal infection with water changes and salt my monster would still be with me. I've never been so heart broken about a fish in my life. A truly big ASS mistake in my part. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for doing what I did!

DAMN!

Have you guys ever experienced anything similar that only if you left it alone things would of been alright........

i got 3 p-bass and a silver dat from rare afishinado in the beginning of my monster keeping and they came down with ich cause i didnt have a heater and it was during winter i got all worked up and nervous and overdosed them with ich cure if i wouldve took my time doing waterchanges and added a lil salt they wouldve been fine, to this day i havent seen such beautiful p-bass and havnt came across a silver dat

i call this symptom " killing the fish with kindness". It has happened a lot to me and some of my friends in the past. I guess you just get too nervous when you have a fish that you really like and everythings not going well.

Learn to relax and analyze everything.. run everything once twice or thrice before
doing something when you are not sure. I have learned this the hard way but i eventually got the lesson.
