If you were only allowed one tank, say a 250 gal. What set-up would you go for and why?

FW community/planted
FW predators (mixed species or not)
FW Single species (group or single)

SW reef
SW predators
SW fish only w/ live rock

Thanks for your responses. They'll factor in on my future plans. Not that I'm limited to one tank. But if I was....

If I am doing maintenance on a tank that size I am gonna make use of the full volume and go FW predatory.

Right now, FW single species. Goldfish although I keep my prized bristlenose pleco and some apple snails with them.

a 250g is too big for a salt water tank, imagine how much salt that you'll have to add for every water change. Community tank is not fun to watch, since you have a huge tank, go with Freshwater predators, and plants to separate borders and reduce aggressions as well as to eliminate amonia.

Just to clarify, I meant up to a 250 gal. You could go smaller. That's an excellent point. I never thought of the salt requirement.

what if your single species is a predator?
im so confused... i dont know which button to click. lol

Doesn't matter what the single species is, if there's just one snakehead it would still be a single species.
