Okay I have 6 bichirs in my main tank and 3 in my grow out tank. Is there any way (without a doubt) that I could add the smaller to the main tank to grow faster. I understand about them needing to grow but also know with the more bichirs you add the less aggression in the tank. Does that count with small ones or are they still looked at as a potential meal. If anybody mixed small and large bichirs successfully could you tell me the way you made it work? It also seems that wild caught a tend to be more of the cannibals (I have a wild delhezi). Any tips or should I just wait for a short period of time (feels like forever)

whats the size difference/what species are you putting together?

Lets put it this way: its hit or miss. I have added several small bichirs (4" or so) to a tank with a 12" delhezi and a 8-9" koliba with zero issues. But I can't attest to what other species/other bichirs in general will do.

The biggest I have is a 12 sen, then 10 inch sen, 10 inch lap(can't get it to even eat a ghost shrimp), 8 inch albino sen and 5 inch WC Delhezi and 7 - 8 inch buetikoferri

the lap is the only one I would worry about. I don't know how notorious buets are for being cannibals however. the senegals you definitely don't have to worry about. by the way...a 12 inch Senegal??? that's huge haha can I get a pic of that??

lol that's my fat girl nessi. And should I just put the smaller ones in and watch how they interact with them? My delhezi ate a sen but it was like an inch and I did have some large rosy reds in there. Will he be a problem also?

Damn wild caught. I just want to put the little guys in there because I bought 20 ghost shrimp put 10 in the grow out and 10 in the big tank to eat bichir poo, left over food, and of course be eaten. None of them were eaten they are now almost 2 inches and the ones in the grow out are still the same size

you are gonna appreciate the hell out of that wild caught coloration vs a farmed del haha. Mine I'm not sure if hes wc or cb because hes big for del, and his colors are amazing. plus he was hooked on live for a while...wouldn't break and the lfs said he wouldn't eat for them at all.

Is there anyway I can break him from eating other bichirs? And I hear when endis are smaller their more cannabalistic could it be the same for him he was like 3 1/2 at the time. Little squirt. Will he want to eat other bichirs when he gets bigger?
