I don't like either for my aquarium. My fish don't like the hardness from beach sand, and I don't like the look of plain white sand.

for a Trimac tank. No heavy stock. I got 3 Umbee grow outs 3-5" and a juvie FH too.
Do sand get stuck in their gills or throats?
I have white Petco sand mixed with a li'l bit of black in my 55g and I hate it. My jd's have never shown any color. They are bleached out from it being too bright.View attachment 940458
I'll never use white sand again. It's tan/brown or black for me from now on.

you can still use those sand and throw in big pebble natural gravels.
good to know it washes out colors on some fish

The big jd got bloat and died a few months ago so I'm trying to give away the little one and start the tank over with f8 puffers.
