The deep south
Was siphoning out some bichir turds last night as i usually do for a mini w/c on an autodrip system. Went to take a dump myself and forgot about the hose 😂💀… drained my sump completely and fired a years worth of scum into the tank 🤦‍♂️… always fun when u create your own disasters. Took the time to change filter socks, clean the sump and fire er back up. Thought u guys might enjoy a laugh at my expense and a reminder not to leave a siphon unattended lol…

Man, you caught me with that first sentence...and this post only got better and better! I was laughing so hard I had to put my coffee down. It's not easy to get me to put my coffee down. :)

But I'm not sure why you were worried. Lots of people seem to keep their tanks looking like that all the time...must be done on purpose?

Aren't they called grey-water tanks?

Happy to give u a good laugh 💀🤙 all u can do in these cases. Test of patience lol

As long as I'm here...a question. Do you just siphon out a bit of water to grab up those turds, and then wait for the auto-drip to re-fill the tank? That's another big benefit of the system which I hadn't really thought about. I really, really want an auto-drip system; just can't make it work in my circumstances, nowhere to have waste water draining out on a constant year-round basis.

Okay, so now that your tank has re-filled and cleared up, I see that there are still a bunch of big turds that you missed. Why didn't you...oh, wait...never mind, those are the fish...

Yeah...I'm not a poly guy...:)

heeey now, turds with cool patterns lol 😂💀… and correct, i just siphon turds “for fun” before they hit the drains. The autodrip fills everything back up in and hr or two. I keep my sumps much fuller than regular style so i can take out 20-50gal on my systems while there still running. i have a 650g on drips/canisters/over head sump so its kinda my “reservoir” for the fish room if theres an emergency like this i can pull out 300-400 gal of cycled water if needed while the tanks still running and itell fill back up in a day.
