Had this thought this morning, does anyone have experience using a cooler as a sump? I am looking for something that will hold shape a long time and is drillable. Damn dollar per gallon sale tanks are not. Why go with a cooler instead of a $10 rubber maid tote? Insulation, the sump is probably where I lose most of my heat. I could use the lid and seal the tank in reducing evaporation as well. Thoughts, anyone done this? Sadly searching "cooler" or igloo" returns information about chillers and Canada.......

Thanks in advance!

I never heard of anyone using a cooler for a sump but sounds like it could work. If you try this keep us posted.

If i remembee properly he had a hole drilled in the lid with a homemade float out of pvc to monitor water level in the sump. The lid was closed for insulation it was outside.

My phone is being stupid, look in the diy ply tank compilation and its in his build thread.
