We had four drop offs/dumps at my work today, three adult Bearded Dragons and an adult Ball Python.

One Bearded Dragon and the Ball Python got chomped on by the family dog, one Bearded Dragon is supposedly not eating/drinking (looks dehydrated and is very sickly looking) and the other Bearded Dragon is just fine.

The two animals that got chomped on by the dog, we've cleaned out the wounds and they're both fairly active and healthy looking otherwise. But the other sick dragon... my manager just put repti-aid in the water and said we had to wait for the store vet (who won't be in for a couple of days, at least). Is there anything I can do for this guy? I don't think he'll make it to seeing the vet if he doesn't get some liquids in him at the very least. :\

Thanks for any ideas and/or help!

To hydrate him, give him a bath in warm water just up to his shoulders
They are adapted to absorb water through their vent

Update: They ended up putting him down, sigh. I wasn't there for the vet but the recap was that he had organs failing and his body had begun to break down tissues because he'd be starving for a long time.

The other two beardies and the python are doing well, though. The python is going to have permanent scarring and the one beardie will have visible damage on its face indefinitely. But will, provided nothing else happens, recover just fine. They need some good meals and TLC. We're putting them up for adoption in the store in a few weeks, so hopefully they'll get a good home.

I'm really starting to hate people though... why have animals if they aren't going to take care of them and then just dump them instead of getting them medical care when they need it? At the very least, they're just wasting money by buying something and then letting it die. But doesn't the thought that they're making something suffer ever cross their minds?

your talking about humans here... of course the thought doesn't cross their minds.
Most of them have no idea wtf they are doing they just see this cute or pretty animal and want to take it home for all of 2 weeks then dump it on the side of the road in a cardboard box...... IF they have enough for site they might write something on the box that would draw the attention of someone else to come and rescue it...usually not....
