not sure if this is a repeat or not, don't have time to search around. But have a wakin koi who I believe is near its end, though still a youngen. sits in the plants or at the bottom of the tank and when it trys to swim only get a few inches then starts to roll over on its side and sinks back down. then repeats the process. but only moves when bugged by me or another koi. no apparent visual problems on the outside of the fish. params are as follows:
nitrates=very high
nitrites=0
ammonia=0
hardness=medium
ph= about 7.8/8.0
water temp= ~70
yesterday morning tossed in some aquarium salt, then last evening did about a 10% water change, and added some prime. right now I am about to set up another hospital tank just for him, mix some fresh treated/aged water with some from the tank its in, and try some melafix.
any ideas or other sugguestions?

also keeps curling itself sideways almost in half...

anyone? ideas about whats wrong or how to keep alive?

How high are your nitrates? Doing more water changes will lower it. Melafix isn't going to work. It may have something to do with your water parameters particularly the high nitrates you mentioned.

love the great number of replies thanks everyone!
oh and nevermind. it passed away during the night....

does it have any ulcers? any redness around the scales?

Also, how is the scales? Slimy? Rough? Dozens of my koi died from a disease like this and so far we only did one cure and it helped.
