I have an young albino tiger oscar and he is acting strange. This has started ever since i removed the floating plants from my tank and added a young silver arowana. The aro is fine and eating great and all the other fish in this growing tank seem fine. Water fine, temp o.k.
The oscar seems very listless. He isn't swimming about much, eating alot less but still eating. He used to be great pals with a large blood parrot but he is even ignoring him somewhat. The only other relavant info i can think of is just before this happened i was feeding the aro some chopped up king prawn and he just had to eat as much of them as he possibly could. Ever since then he has displayed thses symptoms. Don't want to loose him as he looks great and is usually the first to top of the tank at feeding time. I would normally just put him in a hospital tank but i know oscars can sulk and don't want to stress him anymore if that is all he is doing. Your thoughts would be of great help.

thanks

chris

As long as he is eating, I wouldn't worry. He is most likely adjusting to the changes you made to his tank.

Yeah I think its the new things to the tank that have your O in a funk. They can seem to pout for ages. As long as you are not seeing any signs of diseases you should be fine, especially if water params are ok. Hope your O snaps out of it, they can be such a fussy fish lol.

i really like him and physically he seems fine, it's just his behavior that was causing me some concern. He's my first oscar so don't know what to expect. Thanks for your thoughts.

sulking he'll be fine in a few days.

its common to see them slow down or stop for a day or two or three when sulking. I like to rearrange my tanks every now and again and my Oscar will pout. Especially when they are new to your tank. But of the fish I have the worst about sulking are the blood parrots.
