illegal arro's

i know arrows are illegal in the us but you see and hear about them for sale quite often, are they ALL illegal or just certain species? (the ones that are microchipped?) does anyone know of any for sale at thier lfs? if they are selling arro's, what kind are they? and how much do they want for them?

I'm sorry to say, but ALL asian arowanas are illegal here in the states.
Chipped or not, certificate schermecertificate.. Absolutely no asian aros.

Jardini is your alternative. And so is:
Silvers.
Blacks.
Africans.
Leis..

All asian arowanas Scleropages formosus spp. are a no no in the states , chipped or not , you can keep african/ silvers and black / australians from what I have hurd.- Correct me if I am wrong as I don't live in the US

I wonder why they figure jardini's and silvers are ok but asians are illegal. Whats the difference? I mean theyre all arowanas. Why some but not the other?

i saw on a arowana forum that asian aros that are 30-40yr + are ok in the states. just to let you know. but its really expensive and hard to come by those. so i think my post is sorta meaningless. lol.

Because Asian arowanas are listed as endangered species by CITES due to popular demand and declining population in the wild unlike the silvers and jardinis. Despite the rarity of jardinis in the wild, successful breeding programs have enabled the hobbyists to gain access to jardinis.
