You sure they're piranhas? Pacus and silver dollars can deceive you. I know of a store that used to have piranhas years ago. They wanted $30 for a 2 incher..

An illegal fish in my state that I see in every pet shop including Petsmart and other mega chains is the Mexican banded tetra aka blind cave fish.
