can some one tell me where to by WHITE pool filter sand ( pool supplies ) not home depot ......around chicago thanks ....i tried leslies pool supplies but they dont have silica sand ..(weird) but thats what they said......
and i heard that pool filter sand from leslies is tan not white anyways .......is there any particula name for white pool filter sand ......LOLZ<< if you guys want too ..i asked alot dumb question ..this's my 1st time with sand better ask then sorry thanks again

I allways thought pool filter sand was diatomaus earth. I think there are better options.

Scotts pet shop will have differant types of sand substrates.

leslie do carried diatomaus earth sand but i was told is too fine sand which will take forever to settle and is not white ..thanks 4 the reply BY THE WAY DIDNT KNOW THAT I POST 2TIMES SORRY

scotts pet shot in westcheter is the most high range price around chicagoland ..i been there only for my holy rock 4.99$ lb ..which i did by some ( stupip me ) never go back then i found out at aquarium adventur for 2.99$lb buy 25 more lb is 2.50$ ...
i'll need 100lb of pool filter sand for my 210 so i dont really think fish shop will do me any good ........thanks

put what you want in your tank by all means. I think over time you'll regret a bleached sand.

BTW you have an unlimited supply of natural sand FOR FREE just go east as far as you can till you run into a really big pond. lol

P.S. I didn't say buy from scotts I meant look at your options

If it doesn't need to be white.... I know of a couple of places that have 50lb. bags of Red Flint colored that is pretty cheap and alsways in stock.

Pool filter sand is not white, it is tan. If you want white you are going to be paying more.

It depends what you get. 3M makes some that is rather expensive. I can't remember how much it cost. I like the natural look so the pool filter sand is great for me.
