I'm a CRAZY Catfish GUY!

Ok, I admit it! I am a catfish geek. I am that crazy catfish freak. I have loved catfish all my life and all throughout my fish keeping hobby I have always had atleast one catfish in my aquarium.
I have dedicated one of my tanks to most catfish!!!
I have the following catfish species:
1 Oxydoras Niger
1 Megladoras Irwini
5-6 Hassar Orestis Catfish (green turusushqki or black tip mouse cats, cute little rare doradid cat that is a schooling catfish grows to about 7'' so perfect for angel, discus, or larger community aquariums)
3 Ornate Pictus cats
1 Four Lined Pictus
1 Vulture Catfish
1 Giraffee Catfish
Yes that's right about 13 catfish! Told you I was catfish crazed! the vulture and ornate pims have been a dream fish of mine to own since I was a child.

Oxydoras niger needs the same size tank as an RTC, they both grow to about 4' in captivity at roughly the same growth rate and niger is in fact a lot more active, being a substrate sifter, so it actually would benefit more from a bigger tank than an RTC.

13 cats is not out of place on here And by no means a crazy amount either but you have a nice mix. surprised to find someone without at least one plec type.
Would be great to see your photos or to see threads on them.

I do feel a lot better. When people come to my house and see my display tank, they say my tank is boring because the catfish swim at the bottom. I don't have that many hiding spaces so my cats are very active. The only ones that hide are the niger and the irwini. I am thinking about adding some angelfish to the tank for mid level activity and more bala sharks.
Your right, about the niger cat. I got him in June of 2018 at 3-4'' and now today he is about 6-7''. No worries though I am moving to Florida. I have HUGE plans. I am planning a big pool pond that will have my TRUE LOVES of catfish in it. Red Tail catfish, tiger shovelnose, marbled achara, and niger/s along with pacu, oscars, and a school of Myleus schmborgkii or redhooks, and my arowana.

What size tanks do you have now?

The catfish display with the bala sharks and silver arowana is a 4' deep and wide is 120 gallons. I have a 90 gallon currently empty. I am in the process of getting ready to move cross country. I am moving from a cold state (MA) to a warm state (Florida). My fish hobby will be very different down there. I will be having a 180 gallon monster community (nothing too huge though), 120 gallon catfish tank, and an altum angelfish and wild discus biotope and a saltwater fowlr tank.
Plus, a huge pool pond for monsters.
