Got home from work yesterday to find one of my fat pregnant guppies dead. Although I am using them as feeders I was annoyed since she was ready to give birth (probably was giving birth and died as they sometimes do). I had this Idea to cut her open and see if I could save any babies, I did, only 5 lived but thats better than none.
I'm a fish SURGEON!

Great now i feel bad for flushing my 2 pregnant dead mollys. Oh well I dont think i would be able to cut any of my fish open.

I dont know about molly's and platies, but with the guppy there was NO blood, which I though was weird. I used tweezers to hold her upside down in about 1/2" of water and used sharp scissors to cut open her belly, then squeezed the belly with the tweezers, looked like 15-20 babies in there, but like I said only 5 where alive and swam, as of this morning they were fine swimming with my other babies I have.
