I'm ADDICTED! I Love My 3wt.!

So I went out this evening and took another shot at these koi and carp that are cruising around at the pond across from my house.. I found my new addiction on the fly! This fish is definitely not the ones that I was targeting but these fish are so damm finicky that I consider any of them a trophy. If I had to guess I'd say this guy was maybe 5lbs+-? (no belly but a long round fish) but on the 3wt. and 2.5lb tippet these guys will give you a run for your money. My ross evolution is really holding up nicely and the drag on that reel is unbelievably smooth, I recommend this reel to all of you serious fly fisherman and it's right in the middle on price range.

NIce catch....id say closer to 8lbs. Carp are a hard fish to catch.....so spooky.
Yesterday we got schooled by the trout. Thrown dries most the day. I was using a 7' 3wt paird w/ a nice hatch reel. I missed 6-8 fish. Lost one nice one after fightn for a while...dang barbless sz 22. And I got broke off on 3. Only landed one on the indy. Ruff day.

Lol yeah but you'll learn for next time what you need to do.. Sometimes a little frustration will only make you a better fisherman. I love dry fly fishing btw!

theres huge carp in my local lake too ive been dying to go after them on fly but theyre extremely picky. i tried to tie something close to what ive seen them eating(mullberrys) if you dont mind what did you have luck with?
