So, I was at the beach collecting hermit crabs and what not and stumbled across this awesome anemone. It was pretty small about an inch or so across, so I decided what the heck, i'd try it out. So I bring him home plop him in and after a day he seems to be doing good. Then I started trying to find out what kind of anemone it was................... I think we all know where this is going.

I thought aiptasia were brown.

I had never seen one that was bright purple red with fluorescent green bands before. If I wasn't afraid of the take over I'd still keep it.

I can't see your pic, but are you sure it's not a Curly-Q anemone (Bartholomea annulata)? Part of the aiptasia group, but they don't spread.

aptasia is a parasitic anemone that will spread and consume an aquarium, especially one that is over fed and has too little current. You can't seem to get rid of the little buggers to quick.
