Yesterday I did a 50% water change and when I was done I waited an hour an tested 0-ammo 0-trite 40-trate. Water was clear and everyone was fine. Today I get home from work and the water looked cloudy. I checked parameters and I have .25-ammo 0-trite 40-trate. I do a water change (50%) and add some salt. Tank is a 180. Not only that, the 1 female who is getting harrassed is just staying in 1 corner while the male is more active then usual. Now the params are 0-ammo 0-trite 40-trate. I'm thinking with the water being so cloudy maybe he finally got her done.

ummm, good luck?

sounds pretty good

my big female will swim up the sides of the glass alot the day she gets knocked up

any signs of ammonia tell me you need more filtration though...

I was thinking the same. Ever since they have been showing signs of breeding I'm working on putting together a 55 gal filter for the 210 and moving them there. I keep seeing the male go for her when the lights go out but today is the 1st day I saw the tank cloudy. That's what I'm curious about.

Well, I have problem with Ammonia for last couple weeks. I have wet/dry filter with bioballs and another Eheim 2080, and Automatic Water Exchange using RO/DI filtration - it should be enough for 180 gallon tank.

Lots of people have problem with Ammonia in this and other forums, especially when you live in Nort US (where is much colder). It is probably because of frosty winter and because tap water very, very cold.

You should try increase air. I heard that Sachem Stability can help.

When I feed worms and my big male takes a dump after the water is cloudy for up to 1 hour....that would also show up an ammonia spike if the filter did not deal with it fast enough....this is one instance where a greater turnover through the filter may help.
