I went sand from gravel recently... so far I love it a lot better just because it looks so much cooler..
Before when I had gravel you know I would just take my vacuum and stick it down in the gravel and take out all the crap.. but now since I've had sand I can't "find" any poop other then fish food which I do vacuum out (actually i kinda net it out..) anyways.. I feel like I'm missing all the poop and stuff?? even though I don't see any? How am I supposed to remove something I don't see? Should I just turn off my filters, and lightly go over the top with my hand to "break up" the top layer and kinda stir the top layer and be good? My tank is 100% clean too im just not used to seeing all the gook come out in the siphon vs just noticeable fish food here and there... for the past 2 weeks now I've just been removing the left over pellets (or most of them) and taking out about 15-20% and feeling it back up, before It just seemed that I had to vacuum the heck out of it to get all that poopy/food stuff out? All my readings are proper so i just assume I guess I'm doing it right huh?
I don't use PFS I use Quikrete All purpose (it looks exactly like beach sand with tiny pebbles and stuff mixed in it)

With the sand it all sits on top and gets moved around by the circulation of water and the filters can catch more. That being said if you move some decor you may find some as, it will settle in dead spots. I took a hair pick and removed everyother tooth and use that to groom the sand, and it prevents any gases from building under the sand and also will stir up poop my fish covered with their landscaping skills.

+1
You are doing fine... That's the best part of sand... easy maintenance... :) Just make sure on the dead area...

Is quikrete as heavy or heavier than pfs?

Sand is graded by how coarse it is. The finer the sand, the more detritus stays on the surface, but more potential for it to compact in corners and dead spots creating anaerobic conditions allowing methane gas to form. The coarser the sand, the more junk it will allow to settle, but the water is able to pass through it better keeping everything nice and aerobic. The coarse sand seams "lighter" but weight is weight. You will get more for the same weight with coarse sand vs finer sand as the coarse sand takes up more space...

You need to check under and around any deco in the tank. With mine, the open area stay clear from detritus, but it often gathers at the base of rocks and wood.

Granted the majority is collected by filters (in your case) - but I have an overflow so mine tends to settle at the bottom. It's just a case of running the net or tube around the base of the deco.
