im visiting my mom in gadsden, alabama for a coupls weeks. any one from around these parts and know of any hot spots for catfishin? or can atleast tell me what kind of fish sre in the creeks...lol...they look like giant fathead minnows.

ill get some pics up of the place later. and the pool we put fish in...lol.

The fish in the creek are most likely some sort of chub. Alabama is a great state and has more species of FW fish then any other state in the Union. Second only to Florida when it comes to FW and SW.

For fishing head to Weiss Lake or any spot along the Coosa River. My favorite spot would be below Guntersville Dam. Catch abunch of the creek chubs and craw fish and use them for bait. USe two different rigs; a float rig and a bottom rig. The best hooks to use IMO are Gamakatsu 3/0 circle hooks. When a fish bites just let him take it a second or two and just reel. No need to set the hook.

Its possible to catch LMB,SMB, spotted bass, channel flathead and blue cats, drum, saugar, yellow perch, white bass, hybrid bass, stripped bass and more!!! Severfal 100lb+ cats have been pulled from there, including some former would records.
