So, this is my 3rd post about the same fish. First post.. fish has mouth fungus and a swollen nostril. Second post nostril has exploded and is oozing whiteness. Now... his nostril appears to be healing, and the white stringiness is all but gone. Over the last couple of days though, the darkening which was originally just near the wound is spreading over his entire face...

WTF is going on here?? He's thinning... and he hangs out at the surface all day. If he dies of whatever is going on here, I plan on bringing his remains to the Agricultural College near by and see if they feel like discovering a new fish disease. I have never seen anything like this happen to a fish. I worked at a fish store for 3 years and have been keeping fish for almost 8 years.. I'm baffled..

never seen anything like that! i work in a pet store and some of our goldfish that are not for sale have big white blobs that have grown on them (some of the weirdness was due their previous owner putting cat repellent granules in the water...) but none of our guys have had anything like this. can you take him to the place you said while he is alive?? hope your fish gets well, good luck.

It has now spread across his entire body. On his sides, fins, face, and even on his eyes. This horrible spreading bruise will likely be the end of poor Elvis.

post some more recent fish sorry to here about this i thought he was getting better??

velvet is usually a white yellow or brownish peppering color, but it could be a new strain.. all i can think of is a fungal infection. have you tried any medications? If its like a gray color the only thing i could find in freshwater fish diseases that might fit is a fungal infection called Saprolegniats... sorry noone seems to be able to help you... let us know how it goes with your fish..

I've done plenty of research myself and can find absolutely nothing that matches this description. I treated with Melafix for 8 or 9 days. In my past experiences, it heals all. Well, I used to think that... I was really stretching when I mentioned velvet.. this looks nothing like it. I'm gonna try something random tomorrow, I'll let yous know how it goes.
