...To Arkansas

We are moving to Arkansas in a few months, and were going to be getting a house with some property....SO, i will have some room to build a few ponds.

Were gonna have a few ponds with normal native fish..
But we also want some ponds with a little variety..

We were thinking some Oscars, Peacock Bass, Arowanas, Knife Fish, Pacus, Plecos, Red Tailed Catfish, Shovelnose Catfish, Tiger Shovelnose Catfish...theres alot more we were wondering about, but i dont feel like listing all of them.

Now would these fish be able to survive?
How much cold can the handle?
Can i dig the pond to a certain depth to help them survive winter?

Thanks alot.

What is the lowest temp that it will get to down there?

It'd almost be snowing in the winter months if Im not mistaken. Not good for those fish. But it was stable enough you could dig the depth to around 4-5+ feet because it is colder.

So if i dug it deeper it would be okay?

OUCH!!! From Socal to Arkansas?? Thats gonna hurt!!

probly need to heat the pond and the deeper you go the more stable the temp will be

Too cold for tropical fish, that is why there are no invasives up that far north
You would do better with koi
