so i have the 55 now. andi have a 2-3 in firemouth, and i want a cutteri in there, now could i put loaches with them, and could another cichlid go in there to. and is the cutteri going to be to soft compaired to the firemouth. thank you for your help

loaches should be fine but this will also depend on the temperament of the firemouth and the cutteri. generally speaking though I'd say they should be ok. what kind of loaches were you thinking about getting? Personally I think yoyo's would be the best bet.

as for another cichlid, I'd say you could do another of similar size to the firemouth and cutteri. you'll want to watch for potential pairing though if you have both genders.

oh and cutteri are no slouch...on average I'd say they are probably more aggressive than firemouth...not far behind the convict. :)

so could i put 2 cutteri and one FM in the tank, with 2 dario loaches, and a zebra catfish, 12 odessa barbs, and some rainbows

I would make sure the cutteri are same sex. In that kind of setup I wouldn't want them breeding. :)

You should have more than 2 loaches. Half a dozen would be much better.

yes i will have more loaches, umm, the people at the pet store said that my FM will be two agressive for the cutteri?

nah, I'd say if anything they're about equal or the cutteri might be a little more aggressive. I'd say you could do a breeding pair of each or individual specimens but don't do breeding pair of one and not the other. :)
