The filtration flow is usually sufficient depending on the size of your tank..

Look at the surface of your tank. if its wriggling in all locations, you are fine. If you have spots that are smooth like glass.... fix that.

Fix options: lower you water level so your HOB filter splashes more, add an air stone, add a power head, add another filter.

i just want a silent type acquarium., i only have 20 gal. and a submersible filter and a powerhead., is it ok? the water is wriggling in all location..

Gas exhange happens where air and water meet. If you have good movement at the surface, you're probably ok.

I just add an extra powehead or something if overstocked or not too much surface agitation, otherwise I just use the filter outflow
