A friend rescued seven of these from a while back, and now my festae pair have divorced I have space to take four of them (for now, will keep the nicest one). In his tank they were all dark and male looking (maybe because of his big 12"+ male jag and other larger fish) but now they're looking more girly, to me at least. Anyone else want a shot?

The person they were rescued from (had an 8' tank with about 10 oscars, 7 jags, pacus, etc etc) was feeding them on dogroll and they've had fat stomachs the whole time, even when they didn't eat for days after being rescued. Worms?

Im no expert either, but strictly based on patterning, 2 & 4 look female, 1 & 3 possible male to me.

Festae pair divorced huh...or did the male just end the females life like mine did 7x?

i'd be shocked if the first pic wasnt a female.

the two in the middle look male and the top and bottom ones look female to me...

theyve got a strange hump going on there. I would say the right two are definitely female not sure about pic 1. 3 looks like it has the best chance of being male.
