For the record: I'm not selling used equipment. Don't know if this the right place for this post, but just had to get it off my chest.

I've been looking to "go bigger." I currently have a 90g mbuna tank and a 90g CA tank. I want something over 100g so I've been checking Craigs List religiously.

One thing I've noticed - other than the "$300, 29g setup that comes with everything and cost $1200 brand new" posts, is the fact people try to sell their entire setup. My feeling is, I don't think most people want what YOU did, they want to do what they want to do. I've seen several large SW setups, where they're selling the kittenkaboodle: tank, stand, livestock, coral, pumps, the whole shebang. But I just want the tank and stand, can't we make a deal?

I understand people would just rather sell the whole setup instead of piecing everything out. It's just easier that way. But I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to piece it out? I would imagine there are plenty of people out there looking for livestock only, or a certain coral or whatever. Break it all down and then sell as needed.

What do you guys/gals think?

Oh and BTW, those people selling 29-55g tank for over $100 are high or got ripped off when they initially bought their equipment :WHOA::screwy:

I'd prefer to sell everything together if needed. Have you tried to sell anything on craigslist lately? You know how many lowballers and flakes there is? 95% of the people will flake. But I'm sure some people will eventually piece it out after awhile and some will just sit on it. This is just IMO

I've only sold a couple things on CL, without a problem, but I'm talking like 3 or 4 things :)

Like I said, I understand it. It's just when I see a post for a tank I'm interested in, it's setup and running: I don't want their livestock, lights, etc. Just as much as they don't want to break it down to sell, I don't want to have to break it down to buy it and move it.

i got a steal on CL yesterday lol ... 75gal with stand,lights,filter,tests,heaters ... for 75$ lol

I think ppl with one aquarium think getting the stock+setup all together will appeal to someone else. and they hope the fish will benefit from that.

I guess its coz its hard to sell things individually, unless the buyer intended to do it that way...

Since they would have to get rid of their stock first, then sell the rest of the stuff piece by piece or they wouldnt be able to keep the fish alive till a buyer comes along...
