For the record: I'm not selling used equipment. Don't know if this the right place for this post, but just had to get it off my chest.
I've been looking to "go bigger." I currently have a 90g mbuna tank and a 90g CA tank. I want something over 100g so I've been checking Craigs List religiously.
One thing I've noticed - other than the "$300, 29g setup that comes with everything and cost $1200 brand new" posts, is the fact people try to sell their entire setup. My feeling is, I don't think most people want what YOU did, they want to do what they want to do. I've seen several large SW setups, where they're selling the kittenkaboodle: tank, stand, livestock, coral, pumps, the whole shebang. But I just want the tank and stand, can't we make a deal?
I understand people would just rather sell the whole setup instead of piecing everything out. It's just easier that way. But I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to piece it out? I would imagine there are plenty of people out there looking for livestock only, or a certain coral or whatever. Break it all down and then sell as needed.
What do you guys/gals think?
Oh and BTW, those people selling 29-55g tank for over $100 are high or got ripped off when they initially bought their equipment
