im planning to buy a knifefish.,im askin some questions..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are not messy eaters, just messy poopers. The get big and their turds are stringy globs when they are fresh but then turn to diarea stuff like oscars. I keep tons of snails in my knife tank; they keep the glass clear. To clean my driftwood, rocks, and bottom, I use a mini-vacuum brush that I put on a pipe. On the other end of the pipe is a hose and I vacuum while I am brushing the gunk that stuck to everything.

btw, if I had to choose between my knives or oscars, the oscars would be the first to go.

I love my ghost knife, and he doesn't appear to make too much mess.

My oscar's eat like pigs but my CK is really clean!

Mine thinks he's a catfish. In addition to eatting shrimp chunks he goes around cleaning the bottom from small pieces my Dats and Aro have missed. It's actually cool to watch him smell like a dog and cover that bottom of the tank.

Silly Royal.:screwy:

What Knife do you plan on getting? Knives in general aren't messy eaters. There may be some particles that will escape through their gills, but not nearly as much as an Oscar.

get a glass Knife, by no means a MONSTER, but theyre friggan sweeet... CK i think grow way to fast for an ordinary tank. Unless u got a big setup, i suggest a slower growing knife... even a Black ghost knife would be a good knife to start with.. just drop in a tube for him to live in and he'll be in paradise. instead of the common acrylic Ghost house" get a glass chimneer, for old school candles.. they work amazing!
