If I were to take my media out from a non-established filter, then let it sit in an established tank for 24-48hrs to let BB attach itself, then put it back in my filter. The filter should be good to go on a new tank. Correct?? And will there be a mini-cycle in the first couple of days till the tank fully establishes itself??
Thanx

It's not that simple but it's not going to hurt
You're not exposing the media to
enough water flow for long enough
You will still go through a full-on cycle

You'd be better off running the new filter in
the existing tank rather than soaking the media

If you really want to shortcut it
take an established filter (3months or more)
to the new tank for a while

Unfortyunatly that won't work, very well at least. If Tank "A" is cycled/already established there will not be any significant amount of free floating bacteria to establish itself on the media. For established tanks, there are bacteria all over the surface area's of the tank. You would be better off putting the "new" filter on established tank "A", moving the established filter to tank "B". Both tanks will have a mini-cycle, or one tank will have to wait for a full cycle.

If it were me switch filter media, I would swap 50% of the established media from filter in tank "A" and move that to tank "B"s filter, move 50% of new media from tank "B" and move that the filter in tank "A".

best/fastest way to cycle a tank
