i want to grow low light to moderate light plants in my 36"-10"-17" 26g. At the moment it has a flourescent strip light with a 5500k tropic sun 24" 18 watt bulb. Im pretty sure i need to add some light to achieve the level i want. Im not even sure that the light i hav now will grow anything at all. Can somebody tell me specifically wat type of light i should put on my tank to grow low light or moderate light plants? thanx in advance

A single linear 36" HO T5 bulb that is 6500 or 6700K would do the best. The Hagen HO T5 lights are very good. The life glo 2 is the 6700K bulb in the series.

yes you need more light, some low light plants would be java fern, java moss and even try some amazon swords(there are many different varieties), these are just a few examples. if you want to look at some great tanks and might get some suggestions look up takashi amano, he is the master of planted tanks

Amazon swords don't do that great in low light. Also, the other forms of swords are not amazons, they are seperate species. Amazons are echinodorus amazonia. Most echinodorus species need moderate to high lighting.

The first link is to a Hagen HO T5 fixture, which is a good fixture. Slap a Life Glo 2 HO T5 bulb in it, and it will do great. The second fixture is a NO T5 coralife, and isn't nearly as effective.

i guess ill buy the hagen then, thanx for all the help
