so I lack a digi cam so Ill try n be as descriptive as possible. My male ebjd and female jd have not showed any interest in each other till just now, theyre only bout 2" and the female is showing AWESOME colours, and I have this skull pirate ornament thats roughly 3" tall 3" wide and recently Ive noticed theyve been cramming stuff in it a bit of anacharis some shredded ghost shrimp basically what they can move but I can not see in it is it other than till she got all couloured up today ive been cleaning the crap out of it cuz im an ass and think its fun to watch them put crap in it again. but today her and the ebjd have been rotating shifts inside the skull is it at all possible theyre getting ready to spawn, I thought dempseys would spawn on slate or flat surfaces not in a pile of crap they have assembled. I know its a dumb question but Ive bred midas festaes and other misc. s.a. cichlids and theyve dug out fry nests but this isnt a hole theyve dug its like I guess a hole they have built. Anyways any input is appreciated, really Im just a friendless loser hiding from his pregnant girlfriend at his moms house!

That is a very interesting story Sir LOL

I wish you all the best with the pair but find it highly unlikely they would be courting at such a small size.

I hope they do breed for you though Good luck :)

i've never witnessed or heard of cichlids piling stuff up and then laying eggs on the crap they piled up. very interesting story. but if they are trading off guard duties on the eggs, it is most likey that the doi have a nest. if you don't see fry this time. you're bound to see fry within the next few batches. ;)

well thats to bad.two of my convicts did that. they put a buch of small rocks in a piece of pvc. but they never laid eggs

i think that your dempseys are a little small for that.mine just started breeding and they are both at least 5 in. and my male is even bigger.look for a bulge in your females stomach area, and that will tell you if they are gonna have eggs soon
