I tried clove oil as directed to euthanize a fish that had been wasting away and was very unhappy with the results, it seemed to cause discomfort.
I later used it for a toothache, got some on my lip by mistake ouch
freezing is no good,
i know there are some products specifically out there but i didn't think to have it on hand
I've heard bashing their heads on a hard surface is the way to go but thye're slippery and messing up would engender more suffering
so what do you do in a situation where it's too chewed up, sick suffering to survive?
i don't think i can hold it down and beat it's head with a hammer either
sorry if this has been asked 100 times or is a sticky somewhere but would like to know for any time i have to do it in the future

Net,Bag a good swing and it is all over. Just like when fishing. Though when killing fish to eat. i usually hold them and givem a good smack head to rock. usualy twice to be sure.

This is the quickest most painless way in my opinion. Humane? What is more humane than ending it quick and effectively.

kinda would prefer nice peaceful just goes to sleep tmethod
i have this vision of swinging my arm back and the fish flies out of the bag and hits the wall....

use a bag that wont break. Maybe an old pillow case.

Peaceful take time instant death in my opinion is more peaceful.

Dragonfly, search "euthanasia of oscar" for my recent post on this subject. Good luck, and I am sorry about your fish.
