okay so i bought a long tenticle annemone and i drip acclimated it for about 2-3 hours. it was fine the whole day and when i woke up this morning it was sucked onto my powerhead. it was ripped apart and the ammonia is throught the roof. is their anything that could cause this?? im not sure what my calcium and iodine readings are but the ammonia and nitrite were all good before this. nitrate was less then 10ppm. the only param. in question would be the pH which will shift from 7.8-8.4 do you think this would have caused this?? and if so how can i get it to stabalize. i use reef pH by seachem to buffer the pH, but should this be done before adding salt to the new water??

Ahhh the dead anenome?? It would of just walked too close to the powerhead got sucked in and ripped up and then started rotting.

dead anemone caused the ammonia spike. do a water change and make sure to get all the dead anemone pieces out.

i did all that i was just wondering how to go about keeping an anemone with powerheads. i was told to use sponges on the powerheads! its an easy fix, but is it the only one?

yeah thats pretty much your only choice. you can try other kinds of power heads like the hydor koralia. something that doesnt have an intake like your normal power head.
