So I have had discus in my 150 and even though they are beautiful I want some more activity in the tank. Discus are gorgeous but kinda boring lol. I don't know a whole lot about the many types of africans other than the common LFS ones. What are your favorite ones? What I'm hoping to get from this thread is ideas on some of the not so common chiclids. What are your thoughts and favorites???? Thanks :nilly:

Here's some of my favorites...I don't own but wish to own (would include pictures but it won't let me),

-Altolamprologus Calvus
-Astatotilapia Latifasciata
-Astatotilapia Nubila
-Aulonocara Kandeense
-Aulonocara Sp. "OB"
-Compressiceps
-Cynotilapia Sp. "White Top Hara"
-Enterochromis Cf. Paropius, Mwanza Bay
-Haplochromis Sp. "Ruby Green"
-Paralabidochromis Cf. Chromogynos, Zue Island
-Pseudotropheus Polit
-Pundamilia Nyereri "Mwanza West"

Thank you, some of those are sweet. The ruby green is beautiful

The Ruby Greens are truly spectacular but they are very passive and non aggressive as far as Africans go. You need to be very careful when choosing tank mates with this Victorian species. I would post pictures of several of my dominant males but unfortunately, MFK is having technical difficulties.

Pictured in my avatar is an old RG of mine, given away to a very good friend.

Didn't know they were passive and non aggressive...very good to know for the future :)

You seem to know a lot about african cichlids from what I've seen from other threads, can you tell me what you know about pundamilia nyererei's? I see that you own 4 different strains of them. I think they're very cool because of the red color some have on them (not many african cichlids have red on them)

& where did you purchase your RG before you got rid of him? Dave's Rare Fish?
