I thought id ask here cause you guys obviosly know a few things but I need to know some stuff before i get one though,
1. will they go in a 6 footer alright with a jardini and a gibbiceps
2. whats sorts are there and how big do they grow
3. how fast do they grow
4. how much will a dat cost (in Australia)
5. how susceptible to stress are they

Gday mate,i saw one on petlink.com.au a few weeks ago.i cant remember the exact price but it was around $650 for a 30cm specimen.they seem to be quite hard to get as the dont pop up that often.

you will have problems keeping ANY type of fish with a jardini once it gets to 10-12inch

good luck

I agree with T1 with regards to the Jardini...that's always a risk. Personally, I have been ok with dats in with my Jar, but I don't think it would be fair for me to say you'll be fine when he could kill them.

There are ITs, ATs, NTTs, STs, and NGTs. There is a sticky at the top of this section that IDs all of them for you.

Their growth rate is fairly slow. The best way to bulk them up is to feed multiple times a day and keep the water quality very high. Feed different kinds of high quality foods, do lots of water changes and you'll see these guys bulk up. As far as max size, that can vary by species. ATs tend to stay under a foot, NTTs and NGTs will average around a foot and over, where the ITs and STs tend to be the big-boys of the group...well over a foot.

I don't know what dats cost in AUD, but they will vary quite a bit based on the species. ITs will probably be the cheapest where STs will be the most expensive, so you're looking at a range of about $15 to $200 (maybe more)for babies.

As long as you keep the water quality high, give them the proper hide spots and don't put them in with overly aggressive tankmates they will be fine.

Best of luck. :D
