So today i was looking at my 125 and thinking of my stock in it. Right now i have my Tiger Oscar, Jack Dempsey, Senegal Bichir and the rescued Iridescent Shark(this fish will be moving soon to a bigger tank, it is going to be too large) unfortunetly i will not be housing my arowana, because it jumped out of the grow out tank:(.
I want another cichlid, but one i have not kept in the past, and my thoughts were on a Nandopsis Tetracanthus, or Cuban cichlid i believe it is commonly named. I love how they are colored and i think it would be fine with my oscar and JD, they aren't too mean. If it was small at purchase i would grow it out in my 55.
Do you think an adult Cuban Cichlid would be able to be in my 125 with my Oscar, JD, and bichir? Or even in my 55 alone at full size?

I think it would work fine, but make no mistake...they can be VERY nasty. I personally would put them in the top 20 of the nastiest cichlids available in the hobby.

I have seen community ones, so it is possible.

Several vendors online have some that are over 3-4 inches for sale.

I had a cuban housed with a carpinte, salvini and a some convicts. He was definitely the boss of the tank but not overly nasty. I've seen some rather calm cubans and also know of some really mean ones that wouldn't tolerate anything. It's worth a shot theyre beautiful fish.

i think they look awesome, thanks for the info! however i have never gotten a fish offline so i have no idea where a good, reliable vendor could be found, i have seen a few threads on here about people being scammed.. what would you all suggest, even if they do not have cubans at the moment..? thank you again

if you're worried about getting scammed you can try some of the vendors on this site. check the MFK Vendor Forum under the classifieds section. cichlid room, tangled up in cichlids and the wishlist are reputable vendors that normaly have cubans available.

thanks! that is something i shall do once i get a little more research done on whats the best way to keep a cuban! thanks for the advice, its greatly appreciated
