just what my header says...
so i wanna start if off by sayin... all you guys have very, very BEAUTIFUL RAYS... ever since ive been on the outside lookin inn... i told myself im goin to get one one day..... so now that situation has popped up... now i need to ask some adveise from you ray experts/hobbyists... also couple of questions that i hope you MFK'rs dont mind answering and help'n this NOOB out!!!

are rays hardy?
what are the ideal tank mates for these guys?
what are the perfect water params, hard or soft water?
substrate or no substrate?
if you decided to cut their stinger of would it kill'em?
also is it true that amonia is their weakness?

a lil info from me i have 7 pea's and i was thinkin he/she would be mixed in with them in a 6x2x2... what do you guys think about that bio-load? do you think ill have issues with that?

reason why im askin all these questions is because i got a ray on hold for me already and its a 5'cup marbled moto... is that correct on how i said that... idk on what the tems are with rays, cup or inches?

pls guy help me out... i really want this guy so im pretty much scrambling on how to make this work.....

so i wanna thank you guys in advance in takin time to read all of this.. and tryin to elp... im pretty sure you'll see my appreciation again...;)

Cutting the stinger off is about the dumbest thing I've every heard of. If you're thinking that's an option, then please don't get a ray.

are rays hardy?
nope - special needs animals

what are the ideal tank mates for these guys?
more rays

what are the perfect water params, hard or soft water?
soft - neutral to acidic

substrate or no substrate?
substrate

if you decided to cut their stinger of would it kill'em?
it will regenerate

also is it true that amonia is their weakness?
ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, lack of food, lack of properly informed "owners"

no, no room for one, get rid of the Pea's and get some P. reticulata rays

No - tank to small for a motoro long term - if you plan on upgrading this tank is fine for quite some time.

Go buy Freshwater Stingrays by Dr. Richard Ross. Very cheap and lots of info. This alone will tell you whether or not you are ready for a ray!

Unnecessary, rude, and disrespectful. :(
I see why he'd want to cut the stinger off(not the entire tail), I'm sure you've read all about how dangerous and painful a sting from a ray can be. Still not a good idea though...

I agree with the other info posted.
However, a motoro ray will outgrow a 6x2x2. You can expect more than a 2' disk diameter when full grown. Circular ponds and kiddie pools work great for rays...I'd look into getting one over 500 gallons.

Rays do good with other rays, arowana, datnoids, and more. Anything aggressive or "nippy" is a bad choice, so are plecos and other poop-machines.

Is that disk diameter or cup size?

sorry to make fun but do some more reading.
