so ive been thonking recently about fish or reptiles. ive done a TONNE of research on american cichlids and am very keen on them but ive thought about the consequences of them like water changes and tank maintenance. so i did alot of research on lizards because they dont have wayer changes or anything and i assumed are alot less maintenance. so now im torn between either a large american cichlid (dovii or midas) or a water dragon or bearded dragon something along those lines or any other "cool" reptiles. let me know what you guys think (=

cheers Tom

I'm a fish guy, so my vote goes for a cichlid tank. Could you do a reptile and fish tank? Likely it wouldn't result in less maintenance but it could be pretty cool.

listen....first off...beardies make just about as bad a mess as a dovii or midas will lol.

only thing is you have to commit a lot less space to a reptile, those 2 fish you mentioned need pretty giant tanks.

Definitely a fish tank regardless of what kind of fish

I'm not a cichlid person so I vote reptiles I got 2 bearded dragons a savannah monitor and have had snakes and many other lizards as well and as the guy above said I say diff ..... My 2 bearded dragons don't make take as much maintanence to take care of they aren't that bad ..... I also have a gar a oscar 2 pbass a couple bichirs lol have had tons more .... I love fiah just as much as reptiles .... It's completely up to u bro witch ever u would rather watch a plus for reptiles is u can touch em and hang wit em to but as the other guy said big fish require a lot more room hence tank size so keep that in mind .... 2-3 beardies can live in a 75 gal for life 1 oscar can be the only fish in a 75 for life ..... Hope this can help ur decision

I kept green Iguanas, loved em but what a pita compared to keeping fish,
