I noticed my baby JDs wouldn't eat this evening and I didn't think much of it till later on when I saw most of them at the top of the tank and one dead and one missing right now.I checked the ph,ammonia,ect....the only thing off was the Nitrate. It was a little high at 20.I do have a bubbler going and quickly moved all of them to the isolation tank except for the one I can't find. What's going on?.The blue JD babies fins are clamped staying near the bottom and the golds are staying near the top,it doesn't look like their gasping for air, please help and I do weekly water changes and stir sand as well.

Temperature is normal?

with only the info you posted, if it was me I'd try alot more aeration & if that didn't turn things around fast, do a partial water change anyway.

when I turn my sand, I'm always siphoning off right above it, as I go...not to leave gas or debris in the water column. If I had real sensitive babies or something, I'd probably spare them that little extra stress though. it's kind of disruptive.

Temp is normal. They're swimming around the isolation tank, one is on the bottom now struggling.None are gasping for air.I've had them in the other tank for months with no problem.I don't know what else to do to help them. The blues seem to be doing the worst, two of them are struggling to stay upright. The golds seem o.k for now.

gee, I dunno what else to advise. even if they don't seem to be gasping.. clean, well-oxygenated water is all I can think of. something had to stress them. fresh water can help stimulate fish in any conditions.
How many of them do you have & what size/age? did you raise them or buy them? are they regular JDs or EB?
anything new in that rooms' air?
Sorry. let's keep this bumped up for more postings.

I've had them since they were under an inch 5 gold JDs and 4 EBJDs.So more than 2 months.I do water change every week with cleaning and stirring stand.I don't use any sprays or anything in room with tanks. Two more blues died, the 5 golds are still here. The blue left isn't swimming around like others, looks like it's having a hard time staying upright, but the golds are stoping and resting between swimming.ONE BLUE LEFT. : (. Thank you petspoiler for being the only one to try and help.

This sounds like high Nitrits, what type of test kit do you use? How old is it? There is also the possibilty that a toxic gas was released from stirring the sand, how deep is the substrate? I would do several 25% water changes over the next few days and retest the paramiters. When you do a water change stick the end of the python into the sand any toxins will be sucked out of the tank the sand will settle back down, don't just stir the sand and let it release toxins into the water.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I can imagine how upset you might be when you can't even figure out what is going on. Are the golds acting weird?
