Just lately my new FX5 is making a noise like an air bubble or small partiacle stuck in the impeller housing......Any help would be appreciated...I'm contacting the manufacturer now......

:irked:

I've had this in mine. I use sand as a substrate in that tank and a bit may have been caught behind the impeller.
Really easy to fix. Drain the filter and undo the housing with a long phillips screwdriver, pull off the housing and you'll see the impeller. If I remember rightly, it just pulls off. I used a cotton bud to clean everything out and reassembled. Problem solved.
The impeller is the only moving part in a FX5 so nothing much can go wrong. Hopefully!

Before putting it back together...spray everything with PAM cooking spray. This seals and lubricates the O-rings. Raise the intake on the canister a couple of inches. IME the FX5 intake works best about 4" to 5" inches from the bottom of the tank. The flow might not FEEL all that strong because of the 1" hose but it moves a LOT a water and it's really easy for the FX5 to pick stuff up from the bottom.

I agree, well said. It happened to my fx5 a few months ago and I took it apart and resembled it. Its been quiet since. I also replaced the pads and changed my carbon while I was at it.
