Which would you guys rather do?

300- 96x30x24, with stand, black back, sump and pump. $1,000.

OR

300- 96x24x30, with stand, sump tank and pump, clear back. Tank has a small crack on top. $500.

Would the extra 6 inches make that big a difference in what I could keep? I imagine I could have a hystrix for a while in the second one. I just would really like the extra 6 inches. Thats what she said.

Go for the one with the wider footprint. It will give your the most variation in what you can keep in the long run as you set up the tank.

"That's what she said"... Hehehe...

I have a 225 thats a 5x3 foot print, gives me WAY more options than a 6x2

Yes, she did say that! i agree.. go with the extra 6 inches.

Depends...ideally you would want a wider footprint...it can house bigger fish and id easier to clean but if you don't have double doors, your stand for the tank won't come in. Also, which tank has a crack? I presume the crack is an acrylic tank, that means the tank, where it were at, was under uneven stress for a long time. It might be due to where the previous owner had it, it might be due to the stand. Beware.

I went with a tall because it does look a lot nicer in the living room and more importantly, it takes a smaller footprint as my wife was already saying the footprint is very big...

The crack will get bigger even if its on the top of the tank?

And thanks for all the opinions guys!

Again this is for acrylic right? The reason acrylic tanks are rarely open rim is because the top helps the side on the load as well. So if the top is cracked, it'll get larger if there is not a fix in place.
