I went into Petsmart tonight to pick up some Ottos and some microsword for my planted 33 cube and walked out with one of their mislabeled African Leaf Fish. Which are really Ctenopoma acutirostre (aka the african climbing perch/spotted gourami)
It's a beauty of a little ambush hunter. Wonderful color and markings. And he's already eating! He downed a platy fry that's been escaping my big Angels for a couple of weeks just minutes after being added to the tank.
So what do you think I should do with him? He's really my only real predatory fish. Rams and Clown loaches and Angels and Bloodparrots don't qualify. He's not being bullied in my 33 but he will in my 55 and he can fit almost anything in my 75 at work in his mouth once he hits 4" (he's at 1.5") now.
An LSF in Warren has a 40 tall(breeder) (could also be a 45 after looking at the sizes on all-glass) with hood and stand for $179 and I've always wanted to set up an African Tank with Swahala driftwood. Do you think I could keep him in there as king with a pair of Butterfly, some congo tetras, and maybe a pair of chiclids?
