Saw a pretty beat up 9" Id shark at my LFS and they let me have him for $20 and a 4 day guarantee on him. He has scares and scratches all other him, his face looks croocked, poor little guy. My plan isn't to keep him but to try and get him looking half decent and sell him to someone who can properly house him. He's in a 75 with a 7 inch syno, 4 inch syno, 4 inch zig zag eel, 4 inch lima shovelnose ( not keeping either) a 5 inch sen bichir and a 2 inch pink tail chalceus. He's got plenty of swimming space up top. I keep fish for the experience and this one is definitely one that I'll remember. I'll be adding a small amount of aquarium salt to the tank ever few days so hopefully that will help, I'll be feeding him bloodworms shrimp pellets, and krill. I figured I could at least give him a better hope for now than the Lfs where he was in a like a 30 long or something weird with a royal ghost knife that kept going after him. Wish me luck! Sorry no pics my camera on my phone is cracked I'll post some when I get a chance.

*If you buy it and can provide for it life time then for sure.
*If you buy it just because it's cheap and got beat up badly but you can't provide or house it long term then it's a NO.
**Oh, well...I just noticed you already bought it, then good luck. You better learn not to buy thing just cause the thing look beat up in any LFS. Trust me, it won't do any good to you in this hobby even your decision is mean good for that poor thing.

You can always eat it, if it gets too big for the tank, and nobody wants it.
They are often sold these days in supermarkets as Swai fillets.
The one in the pic below is about 2ft long, and in a 500 gal tank.
Some restaurants sell here in central Florida where I live. It's pretty tasty when cooked right!

I understand people disagree with my decision but like I said I like to have fish for the experience, if dearly need be I can house him properly for a long time if need be, and if I can't house him I know someone with a 6500 gallon pond. I didn't buy him because he was beat up and cheap I bought him because I felt I could care for him better than at the lfs. It wasn't a complete impulse buy, iv been looking for a center piece fish, (originally wanted a decent size bala school) but this guy popped up. I'm not that person that keeps oversized fish in undersized tanks or else I would of put oscars in my 55 when I first started the hobby. But having the experience to own larger fish while keeping the fish happy and healthy is the guy I am.

These were one bite morsels. An appetizer.

Basically an amuse bouche.
