I got a gar today and plopped him into my 180..... he fits right in. Already a earthworm out of my hand 10 minuites after he was in. Heres some pics i know they suck but i need to know, he was 19 bucks too.

God i hope he isnt an alli

It is not an Alligator it is a Lepisosteus..My guess would be a Florida but I'm not 100% sure of that given the quality of the pics. How big is it? and does it clearly show a dark band down the back and head? Or at least spots on the head and back?

he has a black stripe down his eyes and is about 4 inches. If it is in fact a florida how big will he get.

i would guess florida also. if so they max out at 2-2.5' captive. could get larger but unlikely.

maybe not for life but a good long while. what are youre tank dimensions?

i think you should be ok for a while. they grow around an inch a month. so you can have a rough estimate. they do require a wider tank than many fish their size due to them not being as flexible and their long snout.
