So i got to buy flowerhorn food today, and see two young guys looking at the last FW ray in a tank. basically i overhear, in much more colorful words, that getting a stingray will help him in the female department more (trust me, this kid needed weight watchers and some acne-buster alot more) thankfully the store dont get them in often, so hopefully he'll find something a little easier to care for. Worth my $35 to ensure the ray went to a good home

so long story short, i now have an approx. 5" disc ray in my 75g. he looks to be in ok health, nothing that clean water and good food wont take care of. Been wanting another ray for awhile, so guess this worked for the best. he'll most likely move to my 1100g pond once he's grown up some, where he'll have tons of room to move around.

UPDATE:

he still hasent eaten since i got him home. saw him eat frozen bloodworms at the store, but he hasent touched anything here yet. the other 2 rays i had both took to worms within 3-4 days if i remember right.

going to move him into his own barebottom 10g for now until he starts eating.

have you tried blackworms and 10g is a little small i doubt he will eat if he is very uncomfortable since im sure he has a very long tail. it might just stress him out more do you have anything bigger? plus in the little 10 you will need to do lots of water changes everyday. just my 2 cents though. i would suggest blackworms before you do the 10g though. plus are your lights off and what are some tankmates.

10g is all i have currently. from disc to tail he dosent go front to back on the 10g, so im hoping its ok. and yes, i tried live blackworms as well, but to no avail

i had 2 rays in the past, and they both started eating within a few days, even with larger cichlids in the tank. this guys only tankmates are a couple polys and a CL, and they rarely even bother going near him
