Walked into the LFS....and purchased a pike for the first time. He (or she, I have no clue) is about 7"...what do ya guys think? It's a Lenticulata for sure, but no clue as to where it's from. Sorry about the flash...couldn't really get anything without it.

Too much probably...$120 for a 7". I know Rapps has them for $75 or so, but everywhere I looked online after finding the fish, I would have paid more for fish+shipping whereas the LFS was 5 mins away. I guess I did about as well as I could have without having any importer contacts or making some bulk purchase to save on shipping. I've never even seen them in a store out here until now, so I went for it. What are the tell-tale signs for sexing Lenticulatas, and about what length do they begin to present themselves?

Depending on where it came from, their adult colors are off the hook!! Love lenticulatas, not many people keep them long enough to allow them to grow to their full potential. VERY AWESOME PIKES!! You should be start seeing more colors and stuff once it is at least 10"...around then, maybe a little bit longer and you should be able to sex it. Females normally have a white stripe in the dorsal fin, very prominant...hard to miss. They will also have more reds and oranges on them, makin them very attractive. Congrats on the pike up!! I would've paid that much or more...;)
