Antioch ca
so guys im in a bind i have my larg tank at parents house forced to move to a friends house outdoors in a coverd patio i have two 500watt heaters in the tank plus another 100 spare im located in antioch ca 94509

just want to know if my temp will stay 78-82 my tank is 3/4 acrylic

I'm not about the temperature range there, but you're off to a good start. Glass tanks lose a lot more heat than acrylic tanks.
If it was my tank, I'd wrap the front, back and sides in some sort of insulation. If it had a sump, I'd do the same for it.
I assume you have lids for everything?

My only other concern would be the strength of the patio. Are you sure the it can take the weight of the tank?

you failed to mention if its glass or acrylc?
If it was me i would of made or buy a shed from home depot :headbang2

It should be fine with the heaters you have. 1000 watt is a lot of heat. I know the cost to heat that tank will be expensive. I hope you and your friend is good with that. It may add at least a hundred $ or more to his electric bill monthly at this time of year.

It looks like the low tonight in Antioch is going to be 38F. Those heaters are likely going to be running non-stop. I have no idea if 1,600W is enough to maintain 78F...it depends on how well you are able to insulate the tank. If you only have a 15AMP breaker, you would be running it near it's maximum capacity, so you wouldn't want to run anything else off of that outlet.

Hopefully it doesn't drop into the 20s like it did last week. I'm very curious to hear how this works out for you...I'm in a similar situation with trying to heat a big tank in an unheated area. Please provide an update if you give this a shot.

Thanks.
