hey everyone, I'm thinking about doing an inline heater and a inline uv sterilizer, any opinions? brands? maybe some photos of your setups? still trying to figure out the best way to pipe them in.

They are fairly straight forward but I have had the best luck with UVs plumbing them inline with the filter discharge. The water is filtered so the UV stays very clean. I would imagine a heater could use the same logic with plumbing. I have always tried to keep the setup as simple as possible by multi-tasking equipment that would usually only serve one function, like putting foam filters on the intake of a power head used for circulation, now its a filter.

Possible, depends on what you are trying to do with the UV. For standard algae control a UV is effective even with higher flow rates. Obviously, the slower the flow the more exposure to the UV. I always over size my UV so I can run a higher flow. My UV is rated for a 1000g pond. I'm running about 300gph through it and it is perfect, for the 210g tank. The flow should be the tank volume once an hour minimum. The UV rating is usually listed with both the algae control flow rate and the sterilizer flow rate. If both arent listed, it would be better to error on the larger than needed side. Pond UVs are sometimes cheaper than the indoor models because they are made with green plastic....and maybe a longer cord.
Good luck

I used hydor inline heater and coralife UV. Some will tell you to use Aqua UV but for removing green water most UV can get the job done.

I'm looking more to prevent any parasites.. my water is perfectly clear.. do i not need one unless i get a problem?
If you are looking to nuke everything in the water then go with a higher water UV. Keep in mind nuking everything will also nuke the good elements in yoir water. UV is never needed but always good to have. Its like you don't need life insurance but it's good to have for peace of mind.

My purpose of a UV was to keep the water clearer and nuke some parasites.
