Depends on how much temperature difference there is between the room and the tank, plus acrylic is less conductive than glass, open top will cool off a lot faster, etc etc etc. Typical recommendation is 2.5wpg, so 2 of those 300s should do fine assuming the room temp isn't going to be more than 10 degrees less than the tank temp.

I agree with this part of the statement. I am currently using a Hydor 300ETH on my 220G glass tank with lids, lots of rock and CFL lights, in a room with an average ambient temp. of 68F year round. The tank stays at 78F easily.

I agree with this portion of the statement. I am using the Hydor ETH 300W heater in my 220G glass tank with glass lids, CF lights and lots of rock work. The average room temp. is 68F year round and the tank stays at 78F with no problem.
