Hi Guys and Gals,
I am undertaking a somewhat "large" planted tank in the enxt month or so, tank has been ordered and will be delivered within a couple of months.
Dimentions of 7 x 3 x 2.5 feet, and will be set up as a room divider (viewed from 2 long and 1 side pane)
I have an idea in mind, but not too sure if im biting off more than i can chew...

I have looked reasonably hard, and havent managed to find any tanks on her eof tat sort of scale, fully planted anyway.
Is there someone out there that will put up with a million questions to help me out?
if so, please hear my call!
Thanks in advance.
(journal to come once the ball starts rolling)

i built my tank a few years ago, you need to get onto a glass company and order 12mm clear toughened glass, it would be fairly expensive, my friend built a plywood tank 6 x 2 x 3.( total cost of his tank was 1500euro.
the price for the front piece was 6 x 3 ft and 12mm thick it costs him 270euros. make sure you get a good aquatic silicone,i i payed 30 euros a tube, you would probably be safe with 4 or 5 tubes.
are you going to do the base in wood, you can pick up 2 x 4s at 16 foot for about ten euros each. then you are gonna need some good lights for all those plants. good luck you will enjoy building your monster tank.

Thanks for the replies.
Jacks: I have ordered and paid for the tank, i went to see it today. It cost me AUS$2985.00, not too sure what the conversion would be to auros. It is made from 12mm float, with a 12mm base. I had a lengthy discussion with the tank maker in regards to 12mm versus 15mm for the base, and i am putting a hell of a lot more effort into the base than would normall be done... the steel alone for it has come in at $1800, thats not including the decorative panels or the hood. I hate to admit, but this "big" project is probably ging to push the 10K mark. (which is been ok'd by the other half, since more than that has been spent on the home theatre in the last few months)

And Jcardona: You've hit the nail on the head with that one. :D, my main concern now is aquascaping for 3 sides... althought with 3' to play with, i should be ok, hopefully. Thanks for the link!

Hope to keep you guys informed of the progress.

I'm in Perth too, which store built your tank?

What sort of fish are you planning to stock?
If you scape this right, it will end up looking amazing!

Thanks again.

FB, that was good, seeing it progress, crash, procress and crash again, seeing as ill be checking it out daily, i hope to god it wont crash... But still, an impressive tank.
Deep, I do like it, just not quite what im chasing.
And lojik, it's being built by Ocean Reef, i believe theyre finishing off the braces this week, and im hoping to have it delivered on the 19th. At this staGE, im hoping to go smaller fish, with mroe of them, cardinals, apistos, maybe discus etc... and hopefullt some zmaller L plate plecos, if i can get my hands on any...
