I have a red tail catfish approaching 18 inches and I am getting ready to move into a house out of an apartment. We are thinking of moving him out of the 150 gallon aquarium into a Rubbermaid stock tank we can put in the basement.

Anyone ever do this and is it healthy for the fish? Or is there another option instead of a stock tank?

I plan on making my 150 gallon tank back into a community tank that looks nice. He is in there by himself now with no decor, obviously because he is so large.

thanks

Check out metal sided above ground pools at target.com there bigger and cheaper the RTC will out grow a three hundred gallon stock tank but If you can find a bigger stock tank let me know ! :naughty: Also there is a huge amount of humidity damage cause by such things to floors so you'd have to make your own cover try your next ? in the catfish or DIY threads and good luck!

The Stock Tanks work out well actually... There are several members on here that have housed their RTC's in them for Years...although I see that Ohio is your location and I'm assuming that you are sticking close by so you would be best suited since your doing this in your basement to look into building a insulated case for the tank with a Lid.... this will cut your heating costs as well as if you are able to get a decent seal around the lid also you will cut your humidity issues...
