I am about to start building some 3D backgrounds and custom plumbing on two tanks and I have some questions about moving fish to a trmporary home.

I have a 40 gallon breeder that is a spare tank that I intended to use as a temporary home while under construction.

First tank is 55 gallons stocked with assorted Africans. 3 peacocks, a red zebra and two haps and a pleco.

Tank two is a 75 with 3 gold barbs 3 turquoise rainbows 5 juvenile clown loaches 1 straggler Dalmatian molly 1 straggler swordtail and a small common pleco.

My question is how long would either be sustainable in the smaller tank. Both have established canister filters that I intended to move with the fish while they were in temp tank.

Yes I know the common Plecos get huge, yes I know the clown loaches will grow. These are grow out tanks at this point as I’m looking multiple 120+ tanks currently to start building permanent homes.

The second tank shouldn't be a problem, being community fish. The tank with the African cichlids could go bad quick, being a new tank chances are they'll fight for dominance and territory in the new tank. Having less room to run, some of the less aggressive may take a beating.

I really don’t do to bad with aggression. I do weekly rearranges with my water changes. The one peacock can have an attitude at times but not horrible. Maybe I just need to simplify my background ideas and go wild on the big tanks when I get them.
